Our Story

Whether you're spiritual, questioning beliefs, or solid in faith, we love YOU and accept YOU for who you are.
EVERYONE is welcome. We look at life through unlimited possibilities for living your best life and we support one another through ALL walks of life. We help people experience a personal relationship with the God of Their Understanding by promoting a spiritual community of tolerance, inclusion,
non-judgment, understanding, and mutual respect. We provide classes, affirmative prayer, and meditation with like-minded people interested in living a mindful spiritual life.
Our Global vision: "A World That Works for Everyone."

Our Founder

The Founder of Centers for Spiritual Living
January 21, 1887 - April 7, 1960
Dr. Holmes wrote his seminal book The Science of Mind in 1926 and revised the text in 1938 to create an edition that has since been published in several languages. Dr. Holmes is also the author of numerous other books on metaphysics and originated the international Science of Mind magazine, which has been in continuous publication since 1927.
Born in Maine, Holmes was largely self-taught, seeking out the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson, Christian D. Larson, Thomas Troward, and Phineas Quimby. Holmes moved to Southern California in 1914. He founded the Institute of Religious Science, which became Centers for Spiritual Living. Holmes inspired the "positive thinking" of Norman Vincent Peale, Peggy Lee, Cary Grant, Cecil B. DeMille, and countless others without ever intending to create a religion or a following of masses of people. Ernest Holmes made his transition to another reality in 1960.

Our Sweet Boy has Transitioned Over the Rainbow Bridge

Yes, we have a cat that lives inside our beautiful Center. Meet Sweet Boy; our rescued feline. He lives in gratitude, loves good treats and scratches. He wants for nothing. He is living his best life surrounded by people that love him.

The most photographed cat in Hemet! Over 50 people came to send Sweet Boy love and goodbyes. This "church" cat was adored by many in this community under the domes. He will be forever present here. Thank you for shining such a bright light on us, Sweet Boy.
You are very missed.
